“Family organization and time management really come down to the right mindset—and can actually be a lot of fun,” says easyfaM founder Christian Eineder. “But if parents are already annoyed and stressed by housework, children pick up on that and won’t even start with motivation, because housework in the family is generally seen as something negative,” explains the father of two. His goal: to revolutionize teamwork in families and show all family members that organizing family life together is fun!
“With the right methodology, the family organizes itself,” says Christian Eineder from experience. Together with his wife Heidi, he dared an experiment: the two executives rediscovered the potential of agile management methods from their business for their own family in a completely new way and developed playful tools for family tasks from them. The relief in everyday life was enormous, and discussions were significantly reduced. The easyfaM products were born!
Science confirms it: children apparently learn effortlessly when tasks resemble a game. They love playful visuals, and their brains process images extremely well. So why not use so-called “brain candies” in everyday life too, to help children learn routines (e.g., morning and evening routines) more easily than before? Or use pictures to visualize recurring tasks so that all family members perceive the teamwork and contribute their part?
A magnetic board (the easyfaM Taskboard) with task symbols makes this possible. Families define their everyday jobs and routines and represent them visually. This way, everyone keeps track of what still needs to be done, who has already done what, and what there is to celebrate together.
Each family member decides for themselves when they complete their tasks. Because: arguments in families arise when parents demand help “now” and interrupt their child while they’re doing something that seems more important to them at that moment (e.g., finishing the puzzle). If children have the freedom and the trust, getting things done works “quietly” and without discussion.
To introduce the easyfaM solutions, Christian Eineder recommends family get-togethers. “For example, on Sunday evening we plan our weekly calendar and discuss what needs to be done. Everyone contributes and is proud when it runs smoothly.” In the weekly feedback round in front of the easyfaM figures, everyone is praised for their contribution. What you achieve together strengthens family bonds, appreciation, and the family’s team spirit. And so Mary Poppins’ song comes true: There’s a little bit of fun in every task!
